About Us

Sign Referral Services Inc. grew out of nearly two decades of registered sign language interpreting. As people finally began to prioritize accessibility, so did our approach, expanding into a referral network that connects clients with qualified interpreters and partners across consultation, education, and accessibility projects.

We provide ASL interpreting online and in person, making high-quality access available wherever you are. Whatever the setting, we take the time to understand your needs so we can match you with the right professional.

We also support the profession directly, including a curated online certificate course for interpreters working in mental-health settings, an area with limited resources specific to the field.

All of our interpreters in British Columbia are members of WAVLI, the Westcoast Association of Visual Language Interpreters, and hold the protected professional title of Registered ASL–English Interpreter, a title reserved exclusively for WAVLI members. That means every interpreter we work with is a qualified, registered professional who follows WAVLI’s Code of Ethics. You can learn more at wavli.com.

Terms of Service (please read before submitting)
  1. Minimum Charge: Interpreting services less than 2 hours in total will be billed a minimum charge call-out fee. Travel time and mileage may be charged; please ask us for a quote.
  2. Hourly Portions Thereof: Portions of an hour totalling more than 15 minutes will be billed on a per-hour basis after 2 hours.
  3. 2nd Interpreter: Due to Occupational Health and Safety Guidelines, contracts requiring more than 90 minutes of interpreting require a second interpreter. Contracts will be assessed on a case-by-case basis to determine if a team is necessary depending on the nature of the work.
  4. No-Shows: In the event the participant requiring Sign Language Interpreting does not show up, the interpreters may leave after a 15-minute to 1-hour period, depending on the length of the appointment booked.
  5. Late Notice Booking Surcharge: If your appointment is urgent and the request is made with less than five business days’ notice, you may be billed an additional fee for a rush booking.
  6. Cancellations: Cancellations with less than 2 business days’ notice (e.g. cancelling Thursday morning for an appointment on Monday morning) will be billed at the full charge, no exceptions.
